Whites have slowly been growing on me. This one in particular raised my interest because “Vue Sur Mer” roughly means “Sea View” and refers to the coastal vineyards near Montpellier where this whine originates. Definitely gave me pleasant flashbacks of biking down to the cost and embracing the beaches of Languedoc (or Longdick Beach as I hilariously and inappropriately call it still).
The scents to this wine were quite welcoming. The scents were quite citrusy and sweet. Very light but distinct scents of lemon dominated the nostril. Upon tasting, you can definitely get some nice citrusy flavours at the beginning. The bite of orange and the sweetness of lemons are quite distinct at the beginning. The citrusy flavour is perhaps a bit further on the acidic side, but it packs a decent jab to the taste buds and is not overwhelming. Once the acidic or citrus flavours simmer down, you will then be welcomed to a bunch of lovely tree fruit flavours such as pear, apple, and apricot. The flavours are not too sharp or distinct, but the transition between the citric fruits and tree fruits is quite pleasant, sweet, and smooth. The finish to this is more on the peppery side, but still has a floral and even buttery finish to this wine. There is no bitter aftertaste with this one. There is still a slight tingle of those citrusy flavours at the end, and is probably where that peppery sense comes from. This wine has the perfect amount of sweetness from start to finish.
I really liked this one. It definitely reminded me of the Picpoul de Pinet, and has a few similarities. This one definitely has a broader range of flavours to experience, but the flavours are perhaps not as sharp or distinct as the Picpoul de Pinet. I have not had too many sauvignon blancs before so I don’t feel I have enough authority (yet...) to say this is the king of sauvignon blancs. That said, this is one I would recommend if you like a nice sweet and smooth white with numerous flavours to pick up along the way. I would gladly get another bottle or 12 of these.
Pairings: Poultry and fish would go nice. Even the acidic/citrucy piece would make a nice pairing with some spicy food. This one i paired up with some lobster, homemade cheddar bay biscuits (Red Lobster style) and a Caesar salad. Went quite nicely!

Overall Rating: 4 Languedoc Crosses out of 5

Sadly this one isn't showing anywhere on LiquorConnect.com at the moment. However, I found this one at the St. Albert Wine and Beyond in the chilled section. Would perhaps be worth checking out your local Wine and Beyond or calling to see if they have it.
