Some welcoming lightly sweet scents, but also some very distinct and heavy earthy notes can be sniffed out upon opening this bottle. It definitely smells like snorting a line of Mother Earth. Initial flavours of black fruits, like plum, blackberry, and black currant can be made at the start. Light hints of cranberries can be made just after; both the sweetness but also the bitterness. Plenty of strong earthy notes develop after that give a nicely fresh feel to this one. Some subtle hints of spices like Thyme and Rosemary stand out a bit as well. There's quite a nice blend of flavours through and though. The body is a tad on the acidic side, but feels quite light despite the range of flavours. The flavours don’t feel that heavy and distinct. I know I’ve talked about other wines having similar broad ranges of flavours, but this one feels less full on the tastebuds. Watered down may be too harsh to say, but don’t feel as full or developed. On the other hand, this definitely make it easier drinking in comparison, and the flavours don’t feel like they’re combating with each other. Everything is still quite balanced through and though. The tannins are a bit high on finish, but not overbearingly. There’s a decent smoky and spicy aftertaste and finish as well. Outside of those two things, this one doesn’t leave too much of a bad impact in the mouth.
Again, another "average" bottle. Enough flavours to keep you entertained and easy enough to pound back, but some may be desiring to have more of a fulfilling taste. The flavours are decently balanced though. If you like your wines with enough flavour and easy to pound back, then this may be for you.
Pairings: This one would go good with basic red meats like ribs and steak. Some light cheese platters would also go good with this one.
Overall Rating: 3 Languedoc Crosses out of 5
Where To Get: Haven't been able to find this one on Liquor Connect :(. I purchased this at Wine Cellar almost 8 months ago but could be all out now. WIll update when I find it.
